A tachyokinematic effect is employed to calculate the velocity of a charged particle moving in fivedimensional KaluzaKlein space. An exact formula has the form v′ = cα1/2mpl/m0, in which α is the finestructure constant, mpl is Plank's mass, and m0 is the mass of a particle measured in our physical spacetime.
