A tachyo‐kinematic effect is employed to calculate the velocity of a charged particle moving in five‐dimensional Kaluza‐Klein space. An exact formula has the form v′ = cα1/2mpl/m0, in which α is the fine‐structure constant, mpl is Plank's mass, and m0 is the mass of a particle measured in our physical space‐time.
