The experimental data can be better accounted for if the neutron and proton are

combinations of electrons and positrons rather than quarks and gluons. The author has published a series of articles introducing a new hydrodynamic theory of particles and fields which enables calculation of the physical properties of the pions, muons, kaons, and tau particles in excellent agreement with experimental data. A model of the neutron can be constructed in the form of six neutral pions arranged at the vertices of a regular hexagon with a negative muon and a positive muon located on an axis at the center where they have asymptotic freedom parallel to the axis and

can become the partons in deep inelastic electron scattering experiments. The beta decay of the neutron to a proton is explained as involving electron-positron pair creation.
