An accelerated system represented by a spaceship in free space is investigated from the point of view of an inertial reference system. The two oppositely directed closed paths of light emitted from the midpoint of the spaceship are compared. It appears that, contrary to expectations based on the equivalence principle, the respective travel times are different.
